Abstract(EN)

English Translation

Indian painting is not just the art of color and line, but a profound expression of Indian culture, philosophy, and worldview. The roots of this art extend from prehistoric cave paintings to contemporary abstract art. In its evolution, Indian painting has given birth to many styles: Ajanta, Buddhist, Jain, Mughal, Rajasthani, Pahari, Company, and modern styles. This research paper presents an analysis of the aesthetic tradition of Indian painting, its religious and cultural background, and the new trends emerging from the influence of modernity. While devotion, spirituality, and symbolism dominated in tradition, individual expression, realism, abstraction, and experimentation have taken their place in the modern era. Indian painting today presents a balanced synthesis of "tradition and modernity" on the global stage, which makes it unique.
