Abstract(EN)
Digital media has completely transformed communication and the structure of society in the 21st century. Moving beyond traditional media such as newspapers, radio, and television, social media, online news portals, blogs, vlogs, and OTT platforms have accelerated the exchange of information and ideas. This research paper analyzes the positive and negative impacts of digital media on society. Specifically, it examines its effects on education, politics, culture, business, and social relationships. The aim of the research is to understand how digital media creates opportunities and what challenges it poses. Indian society has witnessed unprecedented changes following the information revolution. Internet and mobile technology have made communication instant, accessible, and widespread. Today, India has over 800 million internet users, most of whom are connected to social media. News consumption is no longer limited to print media; news is instantly available through platforms like Facebook, Twitter (X), Instagram, and YouTube. Digital media has empowered democracy as every citizen now has a platform to voice and disseminate their views. However, this has also brought challenges such as fake news, data privacy concerns, cybercrime, and negative impacts on mental health. This research paper will discuss these aspects in detail.
