Abstract(EN)
In the folk life of Bundelkhand, most auspicious events during folk festivals are held during Uttarayan, i.e., when the sun is in Uttarayan, and special attention is paid to the auspicious timing! From a scientific point of view too, folk festivals are important! Worship of nature, including mountains, rivers, lakes, and trees, is also done. Many folk festivals celebrated in Bundelkhand are socially relevant. These include unique festivals like Naurata, Suata, Tesu, and Akati, where children are trained in social life before entering the social sphere, along with celebrations and games. Similarly, Kajarias, also known as Bhujarias, where Kajal is given and accepted without any discrimination, reflects social harmony and unity. Burning Ravan as a symbol of social evil during Dussehra and sharing paan and hugs with everyone symbolizes love and harmony towards each other and all sections of society. Folk festivals enrich and enhance our social life.
