Chasing the Essence

Man seeing moon

In the twilight's eerie silence,

I wander through a labyrinth of thoughts,

Seeking fragments of a fractured self,

In echoes of the night's cold breath.

A mirror shattered, reflections lost,

Pieces scattered in the void of time,

Each shard a whisper of a life,

Unlived, unknown, unseen.

In the depths of my mind, I delve,

A miner of forgotten dreams,

But every vein of hope I trace,

Crumbles into dust, elusive, cruel.

Ghosts of paths I never tread,

Haunt the corridors of my mind,

Their whispers blend with my silent screams,

A symphony of despair, undefined.

In the darkness, I become a wraith,

A phantom of what might have been,

Forever chasing, never finding,

The essence of the self, unseen.

Each dawn a resurrection,

Each dusk a slow demise,

In the shadows, I remain,

A seeker of a self that dies.
